Hi,
I know this sounds like a silly question but what different kit would be needed by an MG gunner, tool kit and sidearm (P38)?
Hope you can help
Rory

Ja!

Tool kit and side arm (P38) sounds good! Otherwise standard infantry kit (no 'A' frame though!)

Hallo Rodereich! (does anyone get what I do here???)

Yes, the Richtshutze would have his pouch with toolkit and sidearm as different items to the gewehrschutze, nothing more.

Why do you ask? I feel another suggestion coming on?

Hi Rodereich,

:) Thought so. At the risk of being boring and I realise I do that very well, my advice would be to get your quality basic impression. Once you have that, then add to your collection/portrayal.

That said, who am I to say what you should spend YOUR money on! I realise that getting the basics may not be exciting on occasion, but believe me, it reflects in your portrayal.

Let us know what you decide to do.

Hi,
Ive decided that I will follow your advise, It was more of a christmas present thing for the P38. I do need to get some more orginal kit first.

Thanks
Rory

Wise words Roderich,

Nail down your basic kit first - correct boots, tunic, trousers, cap, helmet etc. Be pedantic with the details, it shows in the overall image you will convey.

Ensure you have good repro insignia and a correct pattern cufftitle. It's amazing how many reenactors out there seem content to wear cheap mickey mouse kit, crap insignia etc with seemingly no attention paid to basic details that are well covered in many easily available books! The veterans I speak to often shake their heads in disgust at some of the 'German' reenactors out there............."they look nothing like we did, they look like extras from a Hollywood B-movie" is one qoute I recently heard from a veteran. So if you don't want to be lumped into the same bracket as that then you should strive to get the basic details correct.

As ever: Panzer-Fuesilier! Sprung Auf! Marsch marsch!!
