Hallo,

Before I go digging holes around the kent countryside I need some help!

How would YOU build an MG34 (and Lafette) Nest :?:

Parts covered by zeltbahn?
Have personal equipment spread out around the back?
Ammo boxes? Crates? Card Boxes?
Mess kits?
Veihcle Burner?

If anyone would like to lend me their euipment go ahead!

I don't want to go over the top and dig a whole network of trenches and tunnels and turn it into the Somme! Thats also a lot of work by hand!

Ideas needed :!:

All the best,
Nathan

Hallo,

I think the photos you have provided are sufficient evidence of just how troops dug in with a 'heavy MG'. They can only carry a certain amount of kit, the tripod itself is a monster to lug around, the MG is bloody heavy, and full ammo tins too.......

If you had a whole SMG section, then of course there would be a lot more kit to strew around??????

Regulations stipulate the exact dimensions of a MG pit, the reality of front-line life demands you make the best of what you have!

Don't worry too much - it will all come together on the day.

Some nice photos, a lot of hard work all that digging! But then again it kept them alive!
