Hello!

My name is Jon, I've been searching a few forums and sites looking for a german re-enacting group and recieved a message from one of your members (Nick/Bauer) with a link to your site. Was wondering if your group had a HQ as such? Or if you held meetings or just met up during the years or do you just meet up at the events you attend? Are there any events you attend annually? Do you attend events all over the country or only within specific regions? Alot of questions I know :P

A little about me, My name is Jonathan a.k.a Jon, im 24 years old and live in Essex. I have a keen interest in WW2 history, im not an expert though but would love to learn more and participate in the living history side of things.

Any info you could give me about your group other than what I have read on your about us page would be most appreciated!

Jon

Hallo Jon

Pleased you made it over to our forum! Hope you don't mind me stepping in again and trying to answer your questions.

We do not have an HQ, (other than the Herr Leutnan's place!) and yes, predominantly we meet at the events we choose to attend. Each year we attend between 5-6 events (with the majority being in the South at present, but any event is considered if it suits our portrayal).

As I said in my original message to you, we do not normally partake in the public battles, normally preferring select "private" tactical events where we can use blank firers. That said, the last event we attended (The Victory Show, Leics) some of our memnership wanted to take part in the large public battle and did so. Please see our "Events" page to see what places we attended this year.

Outside of this we do meet up socially where possible and are just in the process of organising our end of year social, which will be held in Scotland on this occasion. As mentioned before, our membership is truly national (and now includes mainland Europe).

If you have seen our selection of galleries, you will have seen that we prefer to dig-in, sleep rough (if daft enough) and generally undertake our hobby to the best of our abilities. Our membership has a wide-ranging age span, knowledge, experience and abilities, but all possess a like-minded attitude. That attitude can be characterised as genuine, honest, hardworking, constantly striving to improve and always considerate to their kameraden.

We are a modest group in size (currently 18 ranks), soon to be 19 with a further three "quality hot leads" not including yourself. Our challenge is to ensure our quality is maintained and that new recruits are intergrated successfully into our ethos. Given the people who have joined this year and others who are looking to do so, I do not foresee many issues with this.

I hope this has provided further detail about our group, and provides you with the information on which to make an informed decision on whether we are the right one for you

Hopefully, one or two of my kameraden will add their own thoughts to my waffle! :D

Thanks again Jon for posting. Hope to speak to you again!

Hi Jon and welcome, by being a member of PFGD you will bypass all of the naff groups out there and go straight to the top of the tree :D The same mentality can be applied to buying kit, buy once and buy quality :)

Thanks for the info guys! Very helpful indeed. Private battles do sound more interesting than the public ones, digging in and living the same as the troops all those years ago.

It's simply a matter of choice Jon, public battles can be fun, but clearly any semblance of realism is given up to provide a show to the public. We generally prefer to be tired, cold and hungry....
