I've just come across a book here in Germany by Willibald Casper, with the title Der Krieg der verlorenen, Ostpreussen 1945. Erinnerungen eines Soldaten an den letzen Kampf der Panzergrenadier-Division Grossdeutschland :!:

Is anyone aware of this book or indeed read it? If not, maybe I should buy it and try translating it. Maybe there's something interesting and would make good material for a newsletter article :?:

Cheers,
Heerwagen

Lieber Heerwagen,

I have seen this book for sale and often wondered about its content. I understand that the chap served with GD? It may well have some previously unpublished information/photographs about GD in this latter stage of the war. If you do purchase a copy, please let me know what you think, I would be interested to know!

Danke,

Max.

Herr Leutnant,

I can't resist it and will buy it! It's not of 'war and peace' proportions being only 80 pages and strikes me as one of those books which was not published in any great number and has been generally forgotten in the mists of time! Could be a Goldmine of information, and when not, then at least we'll learn more about the experiances and feelings during this period. I'll keep you posted!

Heerwagen
