sorry to get your hopes up mate, hes holding on to them for now, his new boots are, well, as we say F**Ked lol! hope you find a pair soon mate, try one of the up and coming military shows.
Thanks for your help. Does Fitos have a website that I can browse on, I kinda remember Nathan saying something about it. Is it battleflag militaria? Rory
Sadly not, i think im going to wait until the war and peace show until I find boots so that i can try them on and see if i am actually that size. Thanks for your help
Ah! so, when i have my curls on show, its an 'atrocity of a haircut', but when Roderich has them, they are 'nice'! Looks like Bauer has found his Unteroffizier's pet! *GRINS*

Thanks, thats the mosty recent photo of me. I was meaning to get my hair cut abit shorter but at the last minute I changed my mind. I did have an afro. On a different note does anyone have any suggestions about buying Y straps, the best sellers and make?
Hi, Not so well, i asked around at the war and peace show but everyone seemed to have sold there size 9/10 boots. Im hoping that i will be able to order some off Richard Underwood. Roderich
Sorry for not getting back sooner Boots should be black The best way to do this is to give them one coat of black shoe dye and there after use black dubbing I have discussed this with Max Rob and Nick and we will be upgrading the uniform regs accordingly Rob and I have never seen an origional pair of boots any other colour other than black unless unissued
While on the subject all leather equipment should be cleaned with black boot polish
Hi, OK now im comfused, boots should be black? or just dark brown? Well ive found it hard to find black dubbing. I think im going to have top wait and see the uniform regs. Thanks Rory

Hi Rory
I can't see any confusion over the colour personally. Just to clarify, "untreated" tan boots should be dyed black preferably, then use black boot polish, then ordinary dubbing to "matt" them. If you cannot dye them, just the black boot polish and dubbing afterwards. That is the way to treat tan boots, and that will not change from our forthcoming updated uniform regulations.
That should darken them down sufficiently, if not entirely, which is OK. I myself also put dubbing on the soles too. just to waterproof them even more.

So does that mean that Schnürschuhe generally have to be blackened in the Füsiliere?
Hi Erich Welcome to forum Yes we generally go for blackened boots. My self or Rob (who has original boots in his collection) have never seen an original pair of boots in any other colour other than black unless unissued . This is not to say they did not exist but we like to stick to the norm rather than exception.

Thanks Kalten.
Before I open a thread asking a lot of "where to get that / who makes the best / blabla" questions: will there be a uniform regulations / recommended vendor list?

What about this supposedly 1943 order about stopping to black (ankle) boots to which people in various fora refer to? Only source cited there for such an order is an SS order from 1944.
Hi As you said (the supposedly 1943 order about stopping to black boots). This is why we like to stick to the norm, rather than the exception, and black boots is the norm.

A friend of mine who has been making authentic American Civil War-era booties (also known as "brogans") for some while has now started making Schnürschuhe:
Personally, I believe these to be excellent, and am defintiely interested in ordering a pair. My only concern is the size, and that if I order a pair and they are too small, too big, it is not a cheap problem to resolve.
We will see about a group order though. Would your friend be able to provide a discount for a minimum order?
Thank you
PS - Our update uniform regs are still not available yet, but as soon as they are I will let you know.

Indeed these are the ankle boots I was telling you about.
Erich,
Thank you for the post regarding the Marschstiefel. They look ok, but again I am no expert. We will get our little collector elves to have a look next week! Danke schoen!
