Hello.

I bought me a M34 sidecap but i didn't order the insignia.

Now, an cap eagle in bevo is not hard to find but the damn (infantry)Soutache is a pain in the ass. Atleast that's what i think!

i have only found one site where i can order them and thats an american site (high shipment prices)

Can you give me a european repro site where they sell individual soutaches?

And also, until when did that wair those on their m34 caps?

Nice to see you found your way here! I shall let my kameraden help you with the best supplier for your soutache. As for the order for their removal, I recollect it was in about May 1942, cannot recall the exact date though.

I am sure someone will be able to confirm whether I am correct or not.

Hallo,

My copy of 'Uniforms and traditions of the German Army 1933-45 vol. 1' by Angolia/Schlicht (Bender publishing) states (P87):

"[The] soutache was generally abolished by an order (HM 42, No. 597) dated 10 July 1942, but the order to remove it was often ignored."

Hope this adds to the confusion...........!

soutache can be got at any C&H fabric stores. failing that i can bring some to beltring.
